Downtown Las Vegas Attractions
The Fremont Experience -
in the 1990's the city of Las Vegas decided they needed something
spectacular to attract visitors, so they put a roof over two
blocks of Fremont Street. Not just any roof, "The
Fremont Experience" is an enormous video screen consisting
of over 12 million LEDs. Three different shows are free for
the watching at 8:30pm, 10pm, 11pm and midnight.
"Classic" Casinos -
oldies such as the Golden Nugget and Binion's are the primary
gambling attractions of the downtown area.
The Neon Museum -
other than Times Square, it's hard to imagine a more appropriate
place for a
neon museum than downtown Las
Vegas.
Cashman Field -
just a couple blocks north of the heart of downtown is the
home of the
Las Vegas 51's baseball team, the AAA Pacific Coast League
affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The stadium is part
of the Cashman
Center convention complex and the stadium and it's restaurants
are available for events.
Las Vegas Premium Outlets
- a
really big "outlet" mall located just a couple
of blocks southwest of Fremont Street on Grand Central Parkway,
part of the ongoing redevelopment of the an old railroad yard.
Lots of big names from the world of retail.
Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters
- okay, not exactly a downtown attraction,
but anytime you're this close to the "big ditch"
you should consider taking a helicopter
tour of the Grand Canyon! |
